A Great Blue Heron pauses atop a sunken log in the Firehole River.

The Firehole River flows through many geothermal areas and accepts their superheated water. This is the reason you see so many of Yellowstone's rivers steaming on cool mornings.

Is there some tread left on those tires, or is it just like throwing a hot dog down the hallway? Family Guy

I'm amazed at how sharp that heron looks even through all the steam. Great job!

It's just a really cool thing to see. We see steam rising in the late winter or late fall when the ice is broken up on Lake Superior but to catch this on a river is quite unique!
Thanks for sharing!

God, this looks like a painting, only better. It's so incredible. The focus through the steam is just spot-on. It would make an amazing poster.
