Shrine Ridge is named so because of its view of Mount of The Holy Cross (the tallest peak in the center of the frame) You can't see in this photo but Mt. of The Holy Cross has two intersecting couloirs that form a cross shape. By late summer the rest of the snow on the peaks are gone, leaving a large white cross of snow on the mountain.
